Rafter – Sweaty Magic Videos

I loooove Rafter.  Mostly because he’s a bona fide freak who makes really compelling, interesting and fresh music. Fast on the heels of ‘Sex Death Cassette‘ (one of my favorite albums) comes his new EP called ‘Sweaty Magic’. A distinct shift from his prior work, this album is quite bootylicious.  As his label, Asthmatic Kitty, so aptly put it:

“Sweaty Magic is Rafter center stage in a gold Speedo (American Apparel banned at the door), firing lasers of love from his eyes. If you’re not shaking your booty by the second track, you might want to look behind you to make sure it’s still there.”

Asthmatic Kitty recently held a video contest and here are the winners to two of my favorite ‘Sweaty Magic’ tracks.  Go ahead and ‘put a little salt in it!’

The Kills – Tape Song

Ironic that this new video from The Kills should come across my desk today.  I almost chose their latest album, Midnight Boom, as my Album of the Week.  I love it.  Maybe next week, unless something else catches my fancy before then.  

I saw them perform live recently at the Treasure Island Music Festival this September and was hooked.  I’m not quite sure how the duo defines their relationship, but based upon the sexual energy they put out on stage it’s clear they are much more than friends.  As my friend standing next to me said so astutely, “If that was my woman, I would fuck her so hard.”

Air France Video – Collapsing at Your Doorstep

Swedish electronic duo, Air France, have released a new video for the track ‘Collapsing at Your Doorstep’ off their import-only EP No Way Down.  Their sound is very St. Etienne.  It’s sorta like a dream.  No… better.

White Denim – Shake, Shake, Shake

Austin-based White Denim seriously rock.  They have a stripped down Stooges/White Stripes vibe that just feels really good.  They’ve been releasing new videos to their forthcoming LP, Exposion, due out November 3. New Chad VanGaalen Video – Molten Light

I was pleased to find a new video circulating today from Chad VanGaalen.  I wrote last week about his new album he has out, Soft Airplane.  He’s a wonderful and interesting artist, notoriously very reclusive and apparently obsessed with death and other morbid topics.  He illustrated this video himself.  Giving us all maybe a bit too much insight into the ways of his twisted mind.
