  2. Hey! Your blog has helped me keep up with new music and I, like you, am obsessed with lo-fi and retro-surf psych rock–especially Ty Segall, who I just saw headline at the Lexington Avenue Brewery in Asheville, NC. The show was incredible–well worth the 3 hour drive from Colubmia, SC, where I live and work as a professor at the University of South Carolina. He played with a band who were top notch and he put on a great show for a small, intimate crowd. He has an excellent sense of humor and is very down to earth. I spoke with him briefly after the show and he was very humble and friendly. The (Royal) Baths opened for him and they were much better than I anticipated. I listened to some tracks on their myspace site and maybe it’s the recording quality or old material but I wasn’t convinced. But that night, they brought their A-game and it was stellar. Oh–and the brewery’s IPA was quite good, too, for $3.50 a pint. Other bands I am into now are: Best Coast, Vivian Girls, Phosphorescent, Woods, The Mantles, and Real Estate.
