Monsters of Folk, “Say Please”
Monsters of Folk – comprised of Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and singer/songwriter M.Ward – will be releasing their first collaborative album on September 22nd. Although these critically acclaimed artists have shared the stage before, this album marks their first recorded output as a band.
Tickets are on sale for the supergroup’s Bay Area performance on October 17 at The Fox Theater in Oakland. Though I’m not sure how smart it was to schedule a performance during The Treasure Island Festival.
i love bright eyes so much. and m ward too. my morning jacket, not so much. but when these three play together, it’s really amazing. that’s why i’m excited for this tour. buuuuut. this song is really mediocre, no? snore! where’s the drama??? you need it badly in a folk song, especially coming from these guys.

Yeah, I thought the song was a bit wimpy too. But sometimes I don’t always agree with the label or band’s choice of the focus track when they’re promoting a new album.
Does this mean that Bright Eyes is done? Conor Oberst has another band now too, I think.
