Supporting the release, he’ll be touring the West coast with a stop at San Francisco’s Hotel Utah next Friday, July 8 playing in conjunction with Garret Pierce. Hello date night!

It’s that time of the month again. The first Wednesday of the month where you get a free preview into a line up of the bands of tomorrow. And May is a good month. Not only is it a great line up of artists – featuring San Francisco’s James & Evander, Mister Loveless and LA-based group, The Fling – but it’s also my birthday. So if you don’t come for the music, come for that.

Come to Milk Bar this Wednesday, April 6, for another great line up of ‘what’s next’ in music, featuring Winter’s Fall – a Berkeley-based 5 piece that sounds like Band of Horses meets My Morning Jacket; the LA-based group Vanaprasta that has such a buzz going they landed on Consequence of Sound’s “Top 25 Bands to Catch at SXSW”; and Oakland’s Space Ghost that will bring their bass and synth dreamy beats.

As usual, DJ Bagel Ted will be spinning beats all night. RSVP for free here on EventBrite or pay $5 at the door.

Judging by the turnout last month, The Rumble is shaping up to bigger and better this year. This month in SF features our very own Grand Lake, whom I saw recently and had forgotten how good these guys are. Be sure to check them out. Supporting them are Belgium’s The Tellers and another local act, The Spyrals.

The Coalition on Homelessness Benefit Concert: Thee Oh Sees, Sic Alps, Ty Segall, The Sandwitches

Thee Oh Sees - “Tidal Wave”

Sic Alps - “L Mansion”

Ty Segall - “Melted

More stellar music headed your way this Wednesday, February 9 at Great American Music Hall with a benefit concert presented by The Bay Bridged supporting The Coalition on Homelessness. Talk about a SF garage rock powerhouse line up. Geez. The only thing missing is Nobunny. Where’s he? Ah, well he’s also playing that night but at a different show at The Knockout. February 9 must be an auspicious date for garage rock bands. A great night for music on all fronts. Get tickets for the benefit here.

[SF Shows] Andy Clockwise @ Hotel Utah 1.29.11

Andy Clockwise“Everybody’s in A Band”

Good music + good people = good times.  It’s a fairly straightforward equation. And if it’s a good time you’re looking for this Saturday night, definitely head on over to Hotel Utah to check out Andy Clockwise. These Aussies (masquerading as Angelenos) know how to get a party started with their variety of self-described schizo pop.  Their music runs the gamut from balls to the wall, rock your socks off numbers like “Everybody’s in a Band” to softer ballads and cover songs like Bjiork’s “Hyperballad”.  Their forthcoming LP “The Socialite” is due out soon.

Get tickets here.

Feb 9 :: The Rumble SF Returns with Blackbird Blackbird, Phantom Kicks
